What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to thoughts and feelings without judging them or being overly reactive. It also involves noticing what is sensed and experienced in the present moment rather than rehashing the past or imagining the future.

Why is mindfulness important?

Mindfulness reduces stress, enhances performance, provides insight into habits and behaviors and enables increased awareness of others’ well-being.

Examples of applying mindfulness in the workplace

  • Taking time out for meditation
  • Practicing returning to the present moment
  • Remaining open and curious about the new
  • Being an impartial witness to one’s own experience
  • Trusting one’s feelings
  • Accepting mistakes and seeing things as they are
